Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) Officer


Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) is part of the Indian Railway Service (IRS). The Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) Officer is responsible for freight, passengers and movement of trains. IRTS has two divisions: Commercial and Operations. The Commercial division looks after all commercial functions associated with train movement such as tickets, sales, collecting revenue from advertisements on stations, etc. The Operations division is in charge of movement of passengers and goods trains, plus passenger comfort and safety. An IRTS Officer begins his/her career as an Assistant Superintendent (Commercial or Operations) at Divisional Headquarters of Railways and may rise to the level of Deputy Chief Commercial Superintendent (Commercial or Operations).
